2011 workshops

I will be hosting another few portrait photography workshops next year. The full day workshop will be full of insights and things I have learned over the years. It is solely for SLR lovers who want to take the knowledge of their craft and their gear to the next level. Full day session is complete with 2 1/2 hours of theory, followed by very fun and creative indoor and outdoor shooting sessions, helping put all that was discussed into practice. Techniques on how to use your camera on manual (ah the freedom!), depth of field (wow how crispy those photos look!), the best lenses for portrait shooting, and digital darkroom hints will all be covered, plus the usual composition and lighting tips, and lots of time for questions.

The indoor shoot will teach you how to shoot without flash in low light conditions as well as the most flattering light for portrait photography. I will discuss the difference between prime and zoom lenses as well as how to find that perfect focal point when shooting with a shallow depth of field. We will be looking at composition, posing, how to make subjects feel comfortable and look natural in front of the camera, as well as props and accessories.

Outdoor sessions will put into practice difficult lighting situations and how to find the best natural light, as well as talk about setting up dramatic scenes. Location discussions and how to give a shoot a theme to create fabulous, memorable, and technically good shots will all be intensively covered. I will guide you into confidently using your camera on manual and how to learn from experiment with light and camera settings.

I will only be offering my full day workshops for SLR users this year, as well as a couple one on one mentoring sessions for photographers wanting to take their art to the next level.

Please drop me a note for more information if you are interested and would like to sign up, or if you would like to give a gift certificate to someone for the holidays. The first workshop will be during the third weekend of January from 9:30am - 5:30pm.

Here are some samples from previous workshops:

Can't wait to make some more magic and meet a fabulous new group of enthusiasts.
