Adam and Kylie met in college at Virginia Tech. Adam was a senior while Kylie was only a freshman so they didn't really connect until a few years later when they were both in the wedding party of a mutual friend. Sparks flew, but the pair still took their time finding their ways to each other. The time was right once they both were living in New York City. About four years ago, the two reconnected at a Virginia Tech football game and bonded over their love for their alma mater. Sparks flew higher and brighter this time and rest is history.
The bride's stunning dress was designed by Monique Lhuillier.
These fabulous sparkle heeled shoes were by the talented Kate Spade.
Kylie's mum worked for weeks trying to figure out what would be old, new, borrowed and blue. The dress and shoes were new, the garter was blue, though Kylie couldn't wear it in the end as her dreamy dress was so well tailored that the garter was a lump seen through the fabric. They decided that since Kylie was wearing blue eyeliner, that totally counted! Borrowed was really special - her grandmother had charms made with all her family members names and birth dates on them. The bride's mum let Kylie borrow her mother and father's and they tied them, using a string from her own baby bonnet, around the bouquet. The string from the bonnet was the something old.
Kylie's gorgeous engagement ring is a cushion cut diamond with a pave band. Adam picked it out all by himself!
Her jewelry is from Kwiat and this eye catching hairpiece from a sweet little boutique in New York City.
The ever impressive Emily at Event Solutions, Kylie's wedding planner, recommended April, who styled the bride's romantic up do, while Krysalis did her make up.
Michelle from Flowers by Gimi arranged the bouquets and reception flowers.
While waiting for the wedding to begin, guests enjoyed cocktails over looking the splendid ceremony site at Caso's Point at the Reefs. In terms of ceremony locations, it was a no brainer for the couple who wanted a beach wedding without their guests having to worry about fabulous shoes in the sand!
Adam proposed to Kylie in East Hampton on Georgia Pond. This was a special place to them as they had recently bought a house there and it is their favourite place in the world. Her parents came up for the weekend and they went for a walk on the beach with the dogs. Kylie's parents held back and once they turned the corner, he fell down to one knee and proposed. It was simple and perfect and her parents were so honoured that they were part of it.
Kylie and Adam loved the idea of having a destination wedding and Bermuda was the perfect location as the majority of their friends and family live on the East Coast. Once the couple saw The Reefs property, they knew it was perfect. They loved the low key, beachy vibe while it was also very elegant.
Adam is a big surfer so Kylie wanted to incorporate his passion into their day. She found this darling miniature surf board and surprised him with the idea that all their guests would sign it on their wedding day and they can hang it in their home so they can always remember their wedding and their guests who traveled so far to celebrate with them.
The newly wed's first dance song was called "Two" by Ryan Adams. They both just love the sond and it always give them chills when they hear it.
The couple were having a bonfire on the beach later with S'mores so they wanted the cake to be a simple vanilla. Michelle at Flowers by Gimi added some of the blues and pinks from the bouquet to tie it all together.
Kylie and Adam's pets are important to them and they are both big dog people. They have a Great Dane called Sunny and she is like their child. The couple had such a hard time leaving her behind to come to Bermuda to get married but they wanted to include all their pets throughout their lives since childhood since they are like family members. Some of Adam's pets' names from when he was growing up were pretty funny and the guests got a kick out of it and it made the tables more personal.
The lobster bibs are a family tradition at all weddings. This started a few years ago - they bring lobster bibs to the reception and put them on just at their table. This causes the other guests to think "how come they are getting lobster and we aren't?" Only, it didn't work this time because lobster was actually on the menu at Kylie and Adam's wedding!
Kylie and Adam - I am so happy to hear that the wedding was the best day of your lives and that you couldn't have been happier. How could it not be, for there is nothing that compares to having all of your family and friends in one spot at the same time, celebrating and honouring your love! That on top of the weather being gorgeous - what could be better than that. Congratulations to you both xxx
