Rebecca & Robert - Elbow Beach, Bermuda Wedding

There were so many wobblies leading up to Robert and Rebecca's wedding that it seemed their dream may not unfold quite as they had hoped. From Hurricane Sandy hitting the East Coast and nearly preventing guests from flying in in time to food and flowers potentially landing after the big day. There were also torrential rains up until moments before the service and a high tide threatening to prevent the ceremony plans on the beach. But luck was on their side. All but one guest flew in on time, the rains dissipated and the skies cleared into a stunning blue, the waters held off and the two exchanged their vows with their toes in the sand, just as they had dreamed they would. Surrounded by family and friends, it was a brilliantly relaxed affair at Elbow Beach, a special place that will hold special memories forever, enhanced by having their wedding there.

Robert and Rebecca prepared the stationary themselves whilst in the UK. The wording of "wedding drunch" is very personal to them and their close friends who joined them for their intimate ceremony. They are knows )as are their friends) for meeting for lunch and still being resident at dinner time... therefore, "drunch" was born.. They thought this working would be a perfect way of letting their friends and family know they should be prepared for an all day event!

Rebecca's mum gave her a sweet little bag with some very meaningful goodies inside. The something old was a decoration from her wedding cake, almost 40 years ago. The something new was a silver horseshoe, the something borrowed was the tag from the hospital that was put on Rebecca when she was born, and the something blue was a sweet little hair clip with a butterfly that the children wear. And of course, a silver penny for the bride's shoe for even more good luck!

Rebecca did her own make up but had Raquel from Salon 27 come and do her hair as well as the hair for the maid of honour, Esther, and the flower girls.

This stunning head band is a Cherished Vintage creation, made from reclaimed jewelry from the 1920s and 30s.

This blue eyed beauty is Isabella (Izzy) - she is 4 1/2 (don't forget the half!!) and felt very proud in her role of flower girl for her mummy and daddy.

Georgiana (Georgie) is three and still has the remnants of baby chub to make you simply want to squeeze her just too much.

The shoes were found at Nine West, right here in Bermuda on Reid Street - love the Buy Bermuda support!

It is funny, for when I think back to our wedding, I realise the only people missing from those memories are the kids. To the point where I want to have a vow renewal with just the kids. And so I shoot a wedding like this one and I think how heavenly to have their own children there to celebrate and honour their love. Just wonderful. And to be able to get ready with the girls too - divine.

On the day, I was so swept up in capturing everything and making sure all the technical side of my photography was spot on that I almost hadn't noticed how utterly beautiful Rebecca is. But as I was processing these images, I sort of got lost in her look - isn't she just gorgeous?

The bride found her Claire Pettibone dress at Carina Baverstock Couture in Bradford on Avon in England. The shop likes to stock mainly UK designers but they said that they "simply could not have a bridal gown shop without Claire Pettibone!" Now Rebecca has to agree.

Mama bear giving each of her girls a sweet little bracelet to wear for the ceremony.

Flowers, bouquets, boutonnieres and reception details were created by Lisa Holroyd at Designer Flowers.

These darling dresses were found at Monsoon, in the UK. I have to say, every time I am over there, I can't help but sneak in to find a little something dreamy and feminine for Indigo.

Robert's suit is from Ozwald Boateng in London. Hello dapper groom!

Rebecca and Robert wanted to be able to enjoy their reception with their guests as soon after the ceremony as possible so chose to have an intimate first meeting before hand so they could enjoy a private moment together alone and after take at least a portion of the photographs early.

Elbow Beach is where Robert and Rebecca had their first date and the family practically live their during the summer months so it made sense to have their wedding there as well.  We were a bit worried about the size of the beach as the tide was coming in but Rebecca cleverly requested the chairs be set up facing down the beach so it was a perfect fit with a gorgeous view to the west.

Talk about show stoppers - these two had the guests "awwing" and "ahhhing" like crazy - they performed their duties as flower girls beautifully.

Robert and Rebecca prefer to keep things simple so chose to have a short civil ceremony. Pastor Charly Franks had married several of their friends and they enjoy his no fuss attitude.

The rings are all from Boodles, in London.

Do you see what I mean about Rebecca - she is just stunning - this image above makes me stop in my tracks (hence the reason I put the colour one at the top!). Such a lovely couple!

Before they joined their guests for lunch, the newlyweds wanted a few beach photos.

I love it when the weather gets cooler here - the water becomes so clear and blus, and the September storms shift all the sands and expose rocks that are usually covered. Vibrant green algae (or mermaids' hair as my kids like to call it) grows on the rocks and paint a dramatic picture.

Robert's proposal was beautiful. He proposed in their cottage in Cornwall, in the UK. It was morning and their girls had come into Robert and Rebecca's bed for cuddles before breakfast. They were all snuggling when Robert popped a box on the bead and said, "I bought Mummy a gift while I was in London... I want Mummy to be MY princess. Will you marry me?" Well, if Rebecca hadn't already been lying down, she thinks she would have fallen over! They have been together for nine years and have two children together, yet there had been no discussion about weddings. After asking Robert if he was kidding, she burst into tears. A little tricky to try to explain to the littles but she snapped out of the happy tears quickly and they had a champagne lunch to celebrate. Perfect.

The couple had rented the ocean side Bird of Paradise Cottage where their intimate lunch was set up on in the garden with a spectacular view over hanging the beach.

The theme for the table decor and flowers throughout the wedding was simple elegance which they definitely pulled off with the romantic roses of champagne and ivory, with a touch of colour from the ivy and bay grape leaves.

Rebecca ad Robert are both big foodies and love cheeses, wine, port and all savoury specialties. Rebecca had seen an image in Cornish Weddings magazine with a cheese tower and she knew this would be a dream on their wedding day. She brought the magazine to Bermuda and showed Chef Serge who was delighted to prepare something different. He sourced the cheeses from New York and had them flown in - some nearly didn't make it due to Hurricane Sandy but it worked out in the end and the five tiered cheese tower was adorned with delectable red and green grapes and sumptuous figs - my favourite!

The cake was also made by Serge at the Lido. The couple were keen to incorporate some Bermuda traditions so a rum cake said it all for them. The cake was white rum with white chocolate filling and icing.

Rebecca and Robert - you were so lucky with your wedding. With the weather, the tide and the friends arriving on time. I wish you as much luck in your lives together going forward as you had on that special day you married. A match made in heaven and a day sent from heaven - your wedding day was perfect. Love to you both xxxx
