Carter Family

I photographed the Carters last summer in the Botanical Gardens, but their baby girl had changed so much since then, and with her now walking and the family sadly leaving the Island, they wanted one last shoot to remember their time in Bermuda. We kept rescheduling due to the kids being sick or bad weather, but the day we finally did the shoot was worth the wait. It was one of those early spring days where not a cloud was in the sky and the temperature was so close to that of our skin that we could not feel the air at all. Just good mood weather and what better way to remember the island they had called home for so many years.





I love the fall colours we get with the Bay Grapes in the spring - such unexpected folliage for Bermuda and the perfect backdrop.

Tamsyn, Jeff and Baby Aura

Tamsyn and Jeff had originally hired me to do maternity shots. I was so excited as Tamsyn was going to get her belly painted in an elaborate design with henna. But the night before the shoot, she rang to say her water had broken. And the next morning, I was told about her amazingly successful water birth, made possible by her awesome doula, Sophia Cannonier. So we changed our plan and about 2 weeks later, I went to Jeff and Tamsyn's very stylish home to capture their early days with Baby Aura.

Elena & Langdon's Wedding

Elena and Landon were married on the Marina Terrace at Elbow Beach. They opted to see each other before the ceremony to do couple shots and family portraits. I love it when couples choose to do this as it allows them to enjoy the rest of the day after the ceremony. That first meeting is often so intensely emotional in the instant when they see each other. Not to mention they can actually speak to each other and kiss, which is tricky during a service.



We then had great light and the luxury of time to do some romantic shots in different locations on the Elbow Beach property.















And watching Langdon's face when he saw Elena walking down the aisle, it was as if he was seeing her for the first time all over again.






It was my first Bahá'í ceremony, and I enjoyed seeing how so many different loved ones spoke rather than the officiant giving a sermon - it was so personal and intimate.





















They had been living long distance, so their adorable cake reflected the romance. Thankfully they are at last living together in Spain now.

Montarsolo Family

For Robyn Montarsolos's last birthday, she was given a gift certificate for a family portrait session since the family did not have a single photo of all of them together. I think this is such a creative and generous gift and am always so flattered when people choose me to capture a family's memories.



This is at the bar they built in their garden next to a massive poincianna tree - it is the centre of the home and they always have friends over hanging out with the chimnea going in the winter, or an amazing misting system hooked up for the long hot summers - I love the details like the hanging butterflies and fairy lights.












I have known Robyn my whole life. I grew up wearing hand-me-downs from my sister, and these came from Robyn, who had 2 older sisters herself who had already passed the goodies down, so you can imagine what things looked like by the time they reached me! Out of fashion and out of colour. But Robyn decided to buy special outfits, just for the shoot, and the girls looked so great - I love it when all the clothes not only work together, but also show the personalities of the family members.

And a cool hill to ride bikes down - such a fun place to grow up.

I was excited to be chosen to be featured as a Facebook Friend on the Blu Domain Blog. I used the interview as an opportunity to bang on about some of the things I care about so check it out if you have a moment - the post date was 3rd March.
